The results are in!
On May 14th, Deer Country planted a 4 acre plot with a 6R and 1745 planter to test the emergence results of different closing wheel systems in corn. The goal was to gain a better understanding of the different brands we represent. This was our first Deer Country test plot and we learned a lot about conducting experiments to apply to future plots. If you have questions about how we conducted the trials or want to try something similar on your own farm, please ask! We hope this research and future test plots will assist us in making the best equipment recommendations for our customers.

Emerging plants were counted daily starting at V1 in the same four 50’ plots. Plant counts in each plot were compared from day to day resulting in a standard deviation. The lower the standard deviation, the closer the plant count was from the first day to the last.
